America 250 NC - Pamlico County
In 2026, America will commemorate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the development of a new country dedicated to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” In the years since, our country has undergone many changes, and faced many challenges.
The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.
The Pamlico County Board of Commissioners has adopted a Celebration Committee to honor and participate with counties statewide in this momentous occasion throughout 2026. There will be numerous events to join and participate in over the next several months culminating with our annual Croaker Festival Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd & 4th 2026.

The Pamlico County America 250 NC Celebration marks the founding truths of our great nation in the immortal words of our founding fathers
that all men are created equal and are endowed with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
In North Carolina, the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is heading up the initiative. They are engaging with other State agencies, organizations, and individuals statewide with the goal of “energizing robust, comprehensive, and inclusive programs” across the state.
NC FOR ALL, FOREVER.
